6 months!

I feel like this is a really big milestone! We have a 6 month old! That is so crazy to me. And I feel like I am the least prepared for a monthly post with this one. I'm having a hard time remembering the highlights. We've also dramatically slowed down the picture taking it seems. That's probably NOT such a bad thing ;)  Well and also, a lot of his pictures in the month are other activities and get blogged elsewhere.

He did get two more teeth last month. Now he has 6. And they are sharp little things. I don't know that the sleeping thing has improved all that much. We have a little bit better of a schedule but he doesn't go down as easily as I would like. Once he does sleep it's not too bad. I've been trying to let him sleep in a bed in the mornings instead of hopefully in the stroller during a run - to see if that would help things. I think it has maybe, but that means it's been harder for me to get exercise and that's a whole other issue ;)
It's crazy how many little nuances present themselves for decisions when raising a human. I'm not the best decision maker ever either, so in that sense, I find being a mom kind of difficult.  In the grand scheme of things, I can't imagine it making that much of a difference - but the morsel of my brain that wonders if it will is enough to keep me stressing and worrying about things :)

And honestly, other than the sleeping thing - he is 100% joy. He is all smiles when he's not tired or hungry. He's getting awesome and holding things and grabbing things and moving them from hand to hand. He sits like a champion.

He still LOVES the water! Tanner and I took him swimming and that was the first time he really got obviously excited about it. Lots of splashing and squealing.  So much fun!

We've still been giving him food and he's getting better at holding onto it. I'm trying this Baby Led Weaning approach and it's messy and probably will be slow going, but it's really fun to let him explore the shapes and textures of food and to learn how to feed himself.  He's very rarely interested in being fed, so I think it will work out well.  I guess we'll see.  He's tried avocado, watermelon, peaches, banana, apple, cucumber, red pepper, raspberries, bread, and a little cheese so far. Hard to really tell how much of any he's getting and what he really likes, but if I had to pick a  potential fav, I would say cucumber is at the top of the list.
We've had a few fun park days. He loves being outside too. I guess most kids do, but it's still cool.

Here's some other random pics that are nothing but cute.

( I guess we haven't slowed down that much with picture taking)  Harvey is pretty ticklish. On the chubbiest part of his thighs and just under his collar bones - he'll get giggling pretty good. Nothing cuter than a baby giggle, I know that for sure!

One unfortunate thing that happened last month is our babysitter that I was REALLY liking, decided she didn't want to tend anymore. I guess Harvey was having a rough time there. He didn't go down for a nap without crying so she said she'd have to hold him. And she said he'd cry a lot when she put him down - like he wouldn't play happily on his own or with other kids around.  Totally bizarre because he's not really like that any other time. I don't know. It all ended very weird for me. And at a very inconvenient time. She thought maybe the environment was too high stress for him. Who knows. It has created another large stress in my life that I allow to consume more of me emotional stamina than it should - but maybe it is good he's not there.  I guess if he wasn't happy there might have been a reason. Regardless, we have been without a full time sitter for about 3 weeks. Thanks to an awesome friend up here, he's been in good hands for all of that time. It makes being a working mom, which has already been extremely difficult for me, that much more difficult. It's hard having to keep changing things so much because I feel so bad for Harvey - not being wanted or just not having any consistency. Blah. Whine. Complain.  I'm done.  We will figure something out. Life is good and Harvey is the best.

And I'll include this even though it happened a week after his 6 month "birthday" - but he had his 6 month shots and check up.  17lbs 5oz and 28 inches. That is 90th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight.
