Misc April

Another month of quarantine and how we tried to survive it. These pictures remind me that I think we did a pretty good job but a lot of times I remember the frustrations and the getting annoyed and being grumpy with my kids. Oops. Hopefully they remember only the efforts and good...
She was so excited to have matching hair with Arial. Man she's a cutie.

Movie parties with dad when I have to work.
Harvey threw something on the roof - I think his lizard - and lost his mind about it. Luckily a ladder and a broom saved the day and then they wanted to climb on it. I thought it was kind of cute. So yes I had to take a picture.

And then I tried to do a cool mom thing and make a neighborhood scavenger hunt. It felt like a really good day. We had so much fun together.

We ended up at the field by Mimi and Pop's house. We ate lunch and the kids ran down hills and played and explored and it was so nice. I wish I could be this good and cool of a mom all the time ;)

My parents swung by and were waiting at home by the time we got there. It had been a long time since we'd seen them and these pictures would probably have gotten us arrested but it was so cute to see them running towards each other and hugging after stupid Covid social distancing.

I made my first ever batch of cinnamon rolls for conference and I do say they did look pretty but I was very disappointed because I didn't cook them long enough. I think the recipe was perfect but the cooking instructions were faulty. Too hot for too short. I needed less heat for less early browning and for longer. I'll attempt again.

Harvey pulled his own tooth out. Made himself cry I think but was bound and determined to get it. I was at work.

???
We walked up to the golf course to visit dad while he was working and it was COLD!

His 2 year old Halloween costume. Haha. Might finally be a little small.

We got Utopia internet and this was the goody bag they gave us! Woo hoo!
I had promised the kids a trip to McDonald's (there was a toy that Harvey's friend got and HAD to have and we hadn't been in awhile. But Tanner had our one car and so we walked through the drive through. We got some pretty weird looks. The kids danced to the car in front of us music. And I had to have the car behind me drive up to the mic because they didn't recognize we were there I don't think. A little awkward. But we found some money by the window that we normally would have missed out on. Haha. Kids thought it was great. And we stopped by the pit to play and play and it was a glorious moment.

Another attempt at being a cool mom. Haha. I set up the tent and we watched Onward out there with some great popcorn Tanner made and then we slept out there. I always get grumpy at bedtime in the tent because they NEVER chill out and go to sleep. And it was FREEZING! I had a heater out there plugged in and turned it on a few times in the night but I was so cold. Kids slept mostly okay but Lottie kept getting out of her sleeping bag.

Lottie got a body book for Easter. She's been pretty obsessed with where her food goes and stuff so we've been looking at it and her esophagus. She opened this flap and said "mom will you cut open my eyes so I can see my camera". Haha. She's also said things like "if you cut me up I can see my esophagus. I want to cut my head off so I can see it." And one time I was laying by her she said "can I cut you up while you're sleeping by me (for to look inside and see my skull and brains). "Mom, do we eat brains?" Yikes Lottie! Maybe we aren't ready for human anatomy.

Harvey's CUTEST little class picture. I debated getting this but remember all my school class pictures in my scrapbooks and just so wanted to have it. $10 for one picture that really is just ending up in here (I guess it's still in his folder...but it was worth it). Look at all those cute kids! He's best friends with Heath and Crew and his girlfriend is Taylee :)
Yard progress photos. This is the stage it was making me crazy. So undone. So MUCH to be done. Feeling so stressed by it and never feeling like it was EVER going to get done.

We ended up tearing out all those pads up to the border of the house and all the sidewalk and stuff so we could relay a bigger, unbroken patio and not have stupid steps and sidewalk in our backyard.

????
More hanging out at the pit. Tried to go for a walk and we stopped here but it was COLD so we didn't stay long.
Beautiful girl that just likes her picture taken.
Goof ball Lottie who also likes her picture taken.
A sweet but grammatically incorrect sign that was put up at Davis. We had some fun with it with Mitt and Major and Romy and Ivy. Trying to locate the errors. Pretty funny.
We went to a park with a large bike path. Lottie didn't really do much of the scooter but Greta and Harvey had fun riding around. They were sad to not be able to play at the park. And I was feeling lazy and not really wanting to run around and play. Sometimes I'm a lame mom like that. But I did end up playing some tag/chase with them at the end for like 5 minutes until I got tired. Haha.

Piano room fort that we left up for a few days. Greta slept in it by herself a couple of times. Lottie I let try it once and it went very poorly and she ended up in her bed pretty soon after and then wasn't given another chance. Ha.
Our favorite visitors!

This was a beautiful day. We went for a stroll around the Farmington waterfowl place with Laura, Crew and Lucy. I think the kids had a good time. They always whine about walks and hikes before but then usually love it. Lottie is still pretty tricky. Likes to trail FAR behind and is never in any hurry. Which is great and I usually don't mind except that the other kids always end up WAY ahead of us. Anyway - it was fun and great to see friends again.

And I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture of her.

Playing dolls with Greta..."Mom, I have a rule. Coronavirus is in the game so they can't sit very close to each other". Funny. And sad.
This is a funny story too. We have been biking/walking down to Whiteside's Elementary School to grab lunches. Harvey got to the school one day before us and when we got up to him he was sitting on the curb looking very forlorn. I thought maybe he got hurt and when I asked him what was wrong he pointed to this dead bird in the curb. We all were sad together for a brief moment and then I started walking up to get our lunches. I turned around soon after that and Harvey was walking towards me with the dead bird in his hands. AAAHH. I told him to drop it really fast and I think I made him scared and he was embarrassed. But he was apparently just bringing it to me because he wanted a picture of it. Thinking about all of this and him picking it up in the curb is making me laugh right now. The lunch ladies were kind of funny too but they were so nice and luckily had a hefty dose of hand sanitizer. And here is the picture that we took after we laid it down by a tree :)
More pit parties. I think we did a little Easter egg hunt here this day too.

Impromptu photo shoot!

Trying to teach Greta to ride a bike. I don't think any of us (her, me and Tanner) are quite ready for that task. Haha.

Watching a fire that was on the foothills. Tanner sent it to me at work and said that they were worried about the deers. Apparently Lottie said that she wanted to "see the baby deers die". Seriously - we have a psychopath on our hands.

My meager attempts at playing dolls or barbies or whatever with Great. My interest in it is so short lived and I always feel bad I don't do it more, better or longer. She could play barbies and dolls all day long. And just wants me to play with her so I always feel guilty when I'm so distracted or can't muster the whatever to sit and do it with her. But we had a little fun here and she's just so sweet and cute.
