Tahoe part 1

We had been highly anticipating this trip for so long! My mom booked a house in Tahoe in the spring for my dad's 60th birthday. She told all the kids about it but not my dad until we went to Yellowstone in June. The day finally came for departure. Unfortunately Tanner had a bunch of work stuff come up so he couldn't make it. It was me and the kids, Laura and her kids (Dallin got a new job), Heather and Shane (Austin was in school) and my Mom and Dad. Ben was in between two big work trips and couldn't make it and Kathryn just moved to San Diego. So bummer not everyone could come but we had so much fun. We ended up waking kids up at about 6 am Monday so we could get outta town. We stopped at McDonald's in Wendover for breakfast. Harvey had to have a toy and that basically made his life.

Then on to Winnemucca Nevada for lunch and a park break for kids to stretch their legs. It was a fun and necessary stop, I think.

We made it to the condo around 5. Made dinner, explored the place and played. Grammy gave all the kids Halloween jams. So cute. And of course, can't get one picture of all the kids looking and smiling, so I'll include all 3 because they are all funny and great individually.

Everyone loves pop!
Our home for the week. We had babies nap every morning and Tuesday, Pop found a geocache site close by so we introduced the children to that adventure.

Found it!
It had a rusted cast iron pot over it and inside was that little tote. When we picked it up to write in the log, there were about 8 tiny mice hanging out underneath. You can kind of see the gray blobs.

The plan for the day was to check out Emerald Bay. It was insane around there - so many people and cars. It took a bit to find parking, and we were about to try and pack our food down to the beach, but found a cool shady little place to picnic before heading down. We were going to go out on this awesome overlook of the lake but then someone decided to come get married. So we moved.

The wanted lunch spot turned marriage ceremony.

We hadn't plan to swim, but you can't keep our kids out of the water. They slowly ended up with less and less clothes and became more and more wet. It was awesome. They didn't care at all that the water was freezing. They had a blast playing. Lottie was a little more difficult to keep happy. The beach and water were SO beautiful! Gorgeous, clear water.

Logan has never been a fan of the sand. Laura is trying to get him to stand up so she can help him do something and he refused to touch the sand. Stay tuned, though...big developments there!

Vikingsholm castle. Right on the beach. That's where I'd like to live, for sure! I'd live there in a hut, really.

We obviously wore everyone out on the hike. Harvey was a trooper. He wanted me to take a picture of him flexing and climbing. While he was standing on that wall flexing he kind of rubbed his hand over his pecks and abs, kind of admiring them etc, and asked if he was always going to have "these". It was so funny.
And here is Lottie trying eggnog for the first time. She went back for a second sip but that was about it :)
