Tahoe part 2

The next day was Laura and my Dad's birthday. Heather and Shane went fishing and we decided to go check out Lester Beach and do a little hike to a lighthouse near there. So after babies did their morning nap thing, we headed off. We parked near Calawee Cove, and looking down from the parking lot it looked AMAZING. So small and the water was turquoise and so clear and so beautiful. It was pretty easy access down. Just a couple flights of stairs really. So we decided to stay there instead of go to Lester. We carried our picnic down and ate lunch. And again  - didn't prepare for swimming, and again - didn't stop anyone from doing it.
 Birthday kids!

I actually foolishly started telling them not to get their clothes wet - and then realized they just wanted to play and so eventually all the clothes just came off.

Pop came prepared and had a good birthday nippy dip.

Do you see this kid!? Barefoot (and naked!) walking in the sand!!! This was HUGE!
After we had our fill of the beach, we went on a little hike, which was conveniently located just a parking lot a way, and easily accessed by this fun bridge!

It was probably only a mile up. It led to a little lighthouse that was built in the early 1900's I think??

We met up with Heather and Shane after our hike at a place called Sonny's BBQ. It was perfect. We ate outside and there was a huge bench and big grassy area so it was good for kids to run around and not have to be contained and quiet. The food was amazing. Harvey decided he LOVES fried pickles and was so mad I didn't order those for us (and the pig wings he was mad I didn't get us). Heather and Shane were nice to share :)

Then party time back at the house! My mom made theeeeee most amazing cake EVER. Seriously. I'm still drooling over it and want to eat ten more pieces. I'm usually not a big chocolate cake person but holeeeee cow. It was a perfect texture and the frosting was a PB buttercream and didn't taste sickly sweet. It was a light fluffy perfect peanut butter taste. And couldn't be matched more perfectly with the cake. I LOVED it.

Unfortunately there was a lot of phone and screen time in the mornings and evenings - just because in the house there wasn't much else to do and it kept everyone from fighting (sometimes). We did play some games with the kids too but they were usually doing it while we were trying to clean up or make food. Meh - guess that's life. We had lots of physical activity and fun too, so I tried not to feel too bad about it.
