April 1st we thought it was nice enough to get outside. It was decent but a little colder than would have been ideal. They kids didn't mind. We went on the Lagoon trail and it was lovely. The kids did great!
Harvey was in LOVE with these horses. We gave them a few apple slices and Harvey just kept petting and loving on them.
We went swimming with Laura, Crew and Lucy at the Clearfield rec center. Way fun to get to know her more, the kids had a blast. Lottie LOVED it and needs a puddle jumper. Eek. It was pretty crowded though.
A quiet - not super comfortable - glorious moment when all children were sleeping :)
Another ski day with dad! This kid is awesome.
Laura took Harvey to a park after preschool one day and she sent me this. So cute. (Crew's little sister Lucy)
We need REAL spring!!
The pediatrician recommended we take the kids to a speech therapist - just cause they both have a few sounds and words that they are having trouble with. We did this free consultation and I could watch it on the ipad out in the lobby. It was cute. They thought Harvey should probably have some sessions to help with his K/C and G sounds but I don't think we are going to do the private route. Probably just some stuff with his elementary next year and things I am trying at home.
Another after school park day with Crew! I feel like maybe I'll mention the story of how I met Laura. I had sent out an email to the mom's to see if anyone lived close because I was desperate to find someone to carpool with cause of work and stuff. A few weeks into school I noticed a car in front of me as we were heading to school by Smiths and she drove to the preschool and dropped off a kid in Harvey's class. So I knew she had to live close. I kind of introduced myself and asked if she lived in Layton and I may have mentioned the prospect of carpooling but I don't remember. It was a little bit after that that I bombarded her in the parking lot about it again. She seemed a little taken back by my attack, but she agreed, and I think we started doing it after we got back from LEGOLAND. She has been a lifesaver. And Harvey and Crew are such good friends. She has helped out so much and it's been great to carpool and I think she's really cool. They are both going to the same elementary next year (Jefferson Academy, 15 minutes away), so it will be great to carpool then too!
My cousin Natalie lives down south and I saw her at Kathryn's bridal shower. We used to be pretty close but they lived out of state for awhile too and we kept talking about hanging out ever since we've both been back in Utah. Finally we made it happen. They have passes to the aquarium in draper and so we met there and shared their guest passes. Bad day to go - it was SOOOOO crowded. I felt like I hardly got to talk to her. It was insane and SO stressful trying to keep track of the kids and keep up and let everyone see what they wanted to at their own pace amongst 1000 people. And it was so loud. And I lost Lottie for a good 10 minutes and we had to get some assistance with that. Ugh. They do have a big play place that I was unaware of and so we went in there for awhile and that made socializing a little more doable but still - it overall was just an emotionally and physically exhausting experience :) We'll have to try it again.
Another bad but SOOO tender to my heart picture of the kids saying bye to me as I drove off to work.
These little adorable cousins!!!
Meeting baby Kate. My friend Gwen, who drove Harvey to preschool all year last year, had another baby. We stopped by to see them. Their other daughter Sadi will be in Greta's preschool class next year! Yay!
Harvey is getting to be quite the good reader! He gets impatient with himself sometimes and very easily distracted and so an 8 page book can take like 10 minutes to read. It's a little painful sometimes but so fun to see him read. And it still surprises me so much to have him sit down and be able to say and figure out words. I LOVE it.
A quick trip to the duck park on a pretty nice day. Oh my heck. Lottie was soooo funny. She was saying quack quack all over the place and running and chasing and squealing and giggling all over the place. She'd say "comeear" to the ducks and geese as she'd try to give them bread. I wish I had it all recorded. It was the best.
And then the Saturday that Greta was with my parents for her birthday sleepover, we went up to Beaver Mountain for skiing with Mason and Carrie's crew and to watch the pond skim. I hadn't skied in 7 years. The boots were so painful to me and I was a little nervous. I did only 3 runs but that was enough to remind me that I could get it back and that I forgot I loved it. I was sad to only be able to do that few, but we had Lottie and she was being a pill so I was on Lottie duty. Harvey did a bunch of runs and had a great time. Till next year! Maybe I'll get a to go a few more times :)
