St.George - Red Reef Hike

We got to take a little trip to St. George this last weekend. We originally had it planned to be Kathryn's bachelorette weekend but then that fell through and we decided we should take the fam. AND my friend Brooke had plans to be going the same time anyway, so we combined our trips and they stayed at Elaine's condo with us and we had a blast. Sometimes I hate spring for the mud that dogs get in, but mostly I love this change of seasons. It's so rejuvenating and good for the soul to have the first days of warm and being outside. We constantly played. We were outside tons and the kids just wanted to swim and bike and scooter and be outside. Lottie LOVED being outside and never wanted to be carried. That got annoying a bit - just wanted to reach down and grab dirt and rocks and do her own hiking. But I loved that she wanted to and that we got so much exercise and vitamin D. It was awesome. I took tons of pictures, as per normal, so split it up into a few parts. The kids did great on the drive down. We got unloaded and did some walking and Brooke and I went grocery shopping and then we made dinner and went swimming. Saturday morning we did the Red Reef hike. SO pretty and so fun and so perfect for the kids. Harvey was awesome. Greta wanted to be carried a lot. She'll get there ;) That night we hit up the INSANELY crowded park - but that's in the miscellaneous/condo post.

They would have been happy to stay by this river and throw rocks all day. We made them keep trucking along.

There was a little detour up to a little cave thingy that had a few petroglyphs. Harvey said this was his favorite part. Even though he slid down a rock and scratched his back up pretty good.

See the petroglyphs above them?

This was our destination. So pretty! The trail goes a little farther but you have to go up a little rock indented ladder with a rope and we could have done it with our kids but the further you go with kids, the further you have to go back and we didn't want to risk it. We played around this area for a little bit and ate some lunch and then headed back. It was perfect. And the kids did pretty good on the way back. Greta mostly wanted to be carried so she ended up in the carrier. Lottie reluctantly was held or walked the way back.

Every time. Stop, grab and throw and play in sand :)
